Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 Riflescope (Matte BDC)

BDC is the ticket5

I am using this scope on a H&R Handi Rifle .444 cal. and I can assure anyone its the ticket to success. Whether you are a pro or beginner the BDC reticle will help. I am hitting 1" groups at 100 yds & 3" groups at 200 yds. How can anybody expect anything better from a 22" barreled gun that will kick the snot of you. The scope performs exactly as advertised No foggood light transmission near dark and a great price. Amazon proves to me time & time again that they are #1 for online ordering quick delivery efficient in every way.More detail ...

Tactedge 4X32 Mini CQB TS Mil-Dot Scope

Good for certain rifles but prob not for an AR-154

Mounted on an RRA AR-15.

I purchased the "Tactedge 4x32 Mini CQB TS Mil-Dot Scope" mainly for kicks thinking it would hold me over until I receive my Nikon Prostaff. It arrived fast I opened it and noticed that it was pretty decent quality right off the bat. The fit and finish is good the pop up lens-cover is nice the extra battery (2 in total) is nice the lens cleaning cloth is a joke (rough pool table cloth) and the optics are crisp and are quite decent on the stock setting. The light gathering does well nothing super astonishing but good none the less. It will work for any daytime shooting and even shooting into the early evening if you have good eyes.

Now for the cons.

1) This probably doesn't come as a shock to anyone but this is not "CQB"... if you think you can use this for fast acquisition and clear a room of targets think again. It has a permanent magnification and you need a full second to align your eye with the reticle. Not close quarters and definitely not fast acquisition.

2) The eye relief spec on this advertisement says "3.5 inches"... lies all lies. 2" at best and even that is stretching it. Why does this matter?.. because that fact such a low amount of eye-relief your eye has to be within 2" of the end... And to mount this on an average rifle (AR or not) you have to mount it far to the rear (FAR to the rear). Think of it... the scope is 7-1/2" long the rear mounting ring is somewhere around 1-1/2" from the rear... add 2" for eye relief... and you get a very awkward and uncomfortable recipe.

Speaking in numbers your mounting rail has to extend to within (roughly) 3 and 1/2 inches of your eye for this scope to work comfortably.

3) Again this is a fixed magnification scope. No real adjustments.

Long story short it looks real funny on an AR-15. It's extended so far to the back that it hangs over some of my collapsible stock and without a doubt you won't be using that charging-handle without reaching under the eyepiece. Being a "mini" scope the front of the scope doesn't even really clear the forward end of the Upper Receiver (being mounted where it is comfortably). At best it may sit flush with the front of the Receiver.

Also these are low profile rings. Anyone with a flat-top and a fixed A2 front sight will have to get a riser. The magnification does not "see through" the post. Infact while looking through the scope without a riser you can see the normal image but it's somewhat fuzzy and dark'ish. So before you blame the optic on being cloudy use a riser. Oddly enough using a riser makes it look even funnier.

In closing FWIW I use my AR-15 with stock fully extended so this may compound the prob. For less than half a bill this is still a steal. Structurally sound enough for .223 but for anyone who cares about practicality (charging handle accessibility eye relief not altering your usual head placement by extending your neck) and the overall look of your rifle I'd stick with either a traditional scope for magnification or a Bushnell Tactical Elite type of optic for quick acquisition. Why recommend an ACOG knockoff? Lets face it if you're reading this review and considering this product you probably don't have a grand to burn on a Trijicon.

Good scope built well enough to withstand .223 or below but impractical on a real AR due to eye relief and subsequent mounting "workarounds".

Edited on 2/1/2010

I was going to return this item but instead I mounted it on a Sig 522 and it works great. For those who don't know the Sig 522 is one of the newest .22 cal assault rifle (semi-auto). While I am confident this scope could handle .223 just fine the below is my final conclusion on why this scope works on the Sig 522 and not the AR-15.

AR-15 deal breakers:

1) Charging handle accessibility is horrible.

2) Mounting rail does not extend back far enough on a flat-top.

3) Riser needed if you have A2 front post sights.

Sig 522 pros:

1) Charging handle on the side of the rifle no issues like an AR-15.

2) Mounting rail extends slightly further back than a flat-top AR-15.

3) Sig 522 has no front post no riser needed for a clear view.

In addition this is a sharp looking scope when mounted on the right rifle. Brings the already aggressive look of a Sig 522 up a notch.

BARSKA 4x28 Electro Sight IR Mil-Dot Rifle Scope

Good Scope!4

Didn't like the loose packing!! But doesn't seem to be damaged. Cool box!! First impression upon taking the scope out was that it is very sturdy rugged and well made. It has a nice rich black finish. The cross hairs are nice had to get a new battery for the illuminated rectical which works great the brightness adjustments are stiff at first until you start using it and the brightness setting work better on the red not much of a difference with the green! Also when it says eye relief it means how far you should be from the eye piece so when it says 4 inches that means you can see clearly through the scope at that distance. The optics are very clear and the see through scope caps that come with it are cool. Wish the adjustments were actually nobs not caps on top of adjustments that you adjust with a small flat head screw driver. Can't wait to zero it and shoot with it.

As a note if you have a M-4 flat top like I do you should get a riser because it sits very low. More detail ...

BSA 30-mm Stealth Tactical Rifle Scope with Illuminated Red Green and Blue Dot Laser and Flashlight

BSA RGB Scope & Laser4

The flashlight is poor quality in that the beam has a 24" shadow when pointed at a wall only 6' away. This could be a defect as I'm waiting for a reply from BSA. This makes the light useless. I will update this review if problem is resolved. The scope and laser seem to be good quality.

Update 3-20-2009

BSA sent a new light at no cost and it works great.

Customer Service is outstanding.

BARSKA 3-7x20 Rimfire Riflescope

It's great! =]5

Okay first of all it took them 3~4 weeks for standard shipping to get here. I didn't care much because I don't need it in a hurry. Just thought that i should share that for your reference.

Now the scope is FULL METAL. I dropped it on concrete countless times and it NEVER broke or malfunction (just a few chipped areas). But still take care of it when you get them. This scope zooms quite far and extremely clear. Also they came with some accesories such as the cleaning cloth eyepiece covers and weaver rings (two of them as the default picture). They have an elevation and a windage adjustment knob to fine-tune your shots according to your style and your gun.

++++++++WARNING++++++++

The weaver rings that they come with CANNOT be loosened or tightened. Which means that these rings that are used to attach onto a gun can only attach to one specific size of the gun rail. These rings are UNDETACHABLE. The CANNOT be removed.

The ring's size (the area that attaches to a gun) is 1/2 inch wide or 1 centimeter wide. Also the scope itself's length is about a foot long.More detail ...

Paintball NcStar Red Dot Sight DP130 3/8 Tippmann 98/A5 Lifetime Warranty

Poor quality2

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Ncstar red dot sight is a cheap piece of junk. It has a cheap mounting system with cheap screws. It will work but I had to modify it with small pieces of rubber on the inside of the mounting rail to make it fit. I would suggest using another red dot site for you paintball marker.More detail ...

the best buy5

I was looking for a aforadable scope and it also be of good quality and I found it. A scope for a 22 rifle that was of good quality and one that was at a fair price. Another plus was the up to date on the shipping time from start to finish. I am a satisfied customer!More detail ...

BARSKA 3-9x42 IR Contour Riflescope (4A Mil-Plex IR 7/8" Picatinny Base)

Good So Far!5

I bought this scope to install on my SKS rifle. I mounted it with a DC Engineering/Rifletech scope mount and was getting about 2" groups at 100 yards. I have only shot about 50 rounds through it so far but have been very pleased with the quality of it. I used it to drop a 6-Pointer within 10 minutes of the opening day of gun season in KY this year!

I haven't tried the bullet-drop turret yet but with it being calibrated to the .223 round I imagine it won't do very good without customizing the turret for the 7.62x39 round. I think that it is well worth the money and lifetime warranty to boot! Oh and by the way it comes with rings already mounted on it so don't go out and buy any for it before it shows up like I did!More detail ...

Bushnell Elite 4200 3-9x40mm Riflescope

Excellent!5

These Bushnell elite 4200 scopes are excellent for the $$$. Sure they are a little bigger and heavier than similar powered scopes from other manufacturers but the glass is superb. Extremely bright and clear what more could you ask for at this price point? They are also quite durrible 10000 rounds of .375 H&H is no laughing matter... In my opinion these are clearer and brighter than the Leupolds in the same price range.More detail ...

Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 1xRed Dot Sight Riflescope

Best Red Dot for the money!!!5

I originally bought this sight for my pistol and it worked great on it but when I got it I was so impressed with the sight I mounted it on my 12 ga. It is well built and is just as good as my aimpoint sight but 100s of dollars cheaper. It is light weight (6.4 OZ) and is very accurate. The battery life is good (I left it on for 5 days and it was still working well). I have used about every Red dot sight on the market and for the money this is the sight to get.Perfect for CQB (close combat battle) and home defense.

BARSKA 4x32 Plinker-22 Riflescope

Nice for the price4

Got a deal on a Remington Mod 5 .22 mfg by Zastava in Serbia (nice honest gun by the way).

I didn't want to spend the money for a Leupold and I have a Barska spotting scope which has

decent optics. Sooo I'm looking at this 4 power for [...] bucks with the mounting rings thrown in

(I paid that for the mount rings alone for my last scope) and figure "why not?". A 22 isn't going

to be too hard on it.

End result? I've had it out 4 times for an extended periods with good results. Hitting golf balls consistently at 100 yds (3 out of five which is as good as I shoot) The scope holds it's adjustments well I havn't had to change them since zeroing in. It has a nice clear sight picture.

I've always been suspicious of low end optics but this one is a winner. Don't know how well it

takes abuse but so far I quite happy with it. Would have paid twice as much. Mounting rings are a

little clunky but that's a minor quibble.More detail ...

Bushnell .22 Rimfire 3-9x40 Riflescope (Black)

Great Scope for the $$$5

This scope is a good scope for the money. Once I had it mounted and bore scoped it was a matter of minutes when I was putting nice groups on paper from 50 yrd. They were not tight groups but only because I was not on a bag or rest and did a lot of shooting free style standing. How many times do you really need to shoot and have the opportunity to sit down on a bench while your game is running away? Anyway good scope good price I would definately put one on any .22. I love the 3-9x40 anyway but this one has good clarity good light and the adjustments are very good and tight. I was impressed. Enjoy this one. More detail ...
